The Challenge
A regional multi-bank consortium running a digital wallet ecosystem in partnership with Mastercard needed a reliable middleware layer to connect each bank's core banking platform to Mastercard's digital wallet and payments ecosystem. The challenge was to build a system that could handle high-volume inbound and outbound transaction flows, perform real-time reconciliation, manage GL posting to each bank's core system, and surface exceptions — all without disrupting live banking operations across any of the connected institutions.
What Was Built
A middleware reconciliation engine connecting the core banking systems of multiple regional banks to Mastercard's digital wallet and payments ecosystem. The system handled inbound and outbound API flows, real-time transaction reconciliation, automated GL entry posting to core banking systems, exception management, and duplicate detection — drawing on our data platform modernization and enterprise integration practice. An admin console provided role-based user management, core system downtime configuration, and CIF-to-mobile mapping for consumers and merchants. A comprehensive reporting layer covered settled and unsettled transactions, GL entry status, fees, VAT, wallet status, and consolidated reconciliation — giving operations teams full visibility across all connected banks. This work sits within our broader fintech software development services for regulated payment infrastructure.
